North Terrace Elementary School
North Terrace Elementary School was built in the 1950s and was in need of major updates utilizing Proposition H Bond funds. It is located in the City of Oceanside on a 13.5 acre parcel on the edge of Camp Pendleton in a residential area. The scope of the project included new construction, modernization of existing buildings, demolition of existing modular buildings, and new modular buildings. Significant amounts of shear walls were used throughout the existing buildings, which made coordinating with multiple disciplines extremely important as to limit any additional costs for design changes or utility
needs.
A variety of sitework was also required for
updated play area safety and additional
plantings. Due to the location within the borders of a military area, creating a safe perimeter was of great
importance in the overall approach to the campus.
